New Family Business - Good Or Bad?

This month has been a challenging month for my family and I. Not because we had to buy a lot of Christmas gifts or anything to do with the festive season. I would not use the word "happy" to describe this festive season as our family embarked into another new field in the F&B industry.

We had a stall in Bedok Food Centre selling popiah. It has been there for a few years and business has been quite good and we have a few loyal customers who will patronize our stall like almost every other day. Recently, we bought over one of the stall in the food centre and wanted to set up our own stall. We decided to give up on the popiah stall and concentrate on selling Prawn Mee Soup. This decision was made hoping that it will lighten the load on my mum's shoulders because she will have to do less preparation at home.

But things turned out to be worse than what we ALL expected. Mummy's workload increased tremendously because she had to go down to the stall to cook the soup and tend the stall with my aunt because my aunt is not very familiar. To make matters worse, business is rather bad ( but we all expected it) and a lot of customers actually asked us when the popiah will be back. After much struggle, we decided to sell the popiah again but we all know that this is going to be very challenging for my mum and also for me and my sis.

Apart from the stall, the challenge that me and my sis faced is actually the emptiness of the house. We are so used to having our mum at home with us and now without her, we have to take care of the house and we are just not used to the emptiness. But thank God, my girlfriend is here, first to pull me out of my own "depression" and then, she almost single-handedly bring my sis out of it too. She also gave my mum her assurance that everything at home will be fine because both of us will take good care of my sis.

New Attraction - Song Collection

Hey guys

After much consideration, I decided to add something to my blog to attract MORE readers. Especially guitarists who are looking for chords for the newest chinese songs. WHY? Because, I will be uploading chords for the newer chinese songs for your reference, But I must first make it clear that my chords may not be the most accurate but should be well enough for you to use as accompaniment. =) I will try to upload one song a week, but when my school term starts, things might be a little different. Till then, we shall see.

Anyway, if you have any song that you will like me to find the chords for you, you can always notify me in my shoutbox. It will be better if you can also provide me with a link to that song so that I can go "catch" the chords for you.

Hope you will like this new idea that I came up with instead of plainly telling you the events that are happening in my life. Please do support and give me your feedback.

Magic Of Love - Unconditional Father's Love

The highlight for last week was Magic Of Love (MOL). I went for the friday night show with my girlfriend and we invited our friends along. We brought a total of 11 friends.

In order to allow them to break the ice and at least talk to one another, we arranged for a dinner before the show to at least allow some sort of interaction between all of them. We ate at Macau Express. Though it was not really fantastic, and the long wait for the food was not really justifiable. However, this gave us time to break the ice, so it is still not that bad afterall.

All our friends found the show entertaining and touching. For most of them, it was their first time watching a LIVE magic show cum musical. So it was quite an experience for them. Moreover, it was held at the Max Pavilion, where all the concerts where held, together with the professional team from Unusual Production, the atmosphere was awesome . Above all, I felt that the message brought across in the show, was so real and everyone there could experience the unconditional Father's love.

After the show, some of us went to have supper at the famous nasi lemak at Changi Village and that summed up our night. Filled with both the Father's love and also the nasi lemak, we made our way home, able to appreciate our father and mother better. Don't you all agree? =)

As I looked upon the whole event, I felt that this Christmas will be a different one for my friends as I believed the seed of faith has been planted in their hearts and they will be able to understand the joy of Christmas.

Vista is NOT a copy of Mac OS X?

I was on the hardwarezone forum when I happened to see this interesting video made by the New York Times on the review of the new Microsoft operating system Windows Vista.

The person was trying VERY hard to justify that Vista is NOT a complete rip-off from Mac OS X. You really have to take a look at this.

Well, I am a happy Mac OS X user now. I made the change early this year and never looked back. My desktop has been down for months and reviving it has never really crossed my mind. All the hype about Macs is difficult to use is really a MYTH.

Enjoy the video. And make a trip to the apple shops in town to test out the range of apple computers. They will definitely impress you.

A Week After Standard Chartered Marathon

It has been more than a week since I ran 10km in the SCM. It was quite a struggle for me to finish 10km because of the injury I was carrying on my knee since my army days. However, I managed to finish the race in 1 hr 02 mins, as recorded by the official timing. Not bad, considering that I stopped running completely 3 weeks to prepare for my first major examinations since the A levels.

However, I was deemed as disqualified by the officials because I started off too late. But, one thing that puzzles me is that SCM claims that we are to run our own race, and since I have ran my own race, I don't see why am I disqualified. But still, I got my medal and I guess I might not get my certificate at the end of the day.

During the race, I ran with Daryl who was also late. =) It was an enriching experience. Though I was supposed to run with Colin, but he was injured so I was quite reluctant to run alone. But His plans were higher and I had Daryl as my running partner. We shared many things along the way, from our salvation to relationship issues, things that will hinder our faith etc etc. The most wonderful thing is something that we shared along the way and it was that no matter how long the journey is, mental strength is a key attribute, but more importantly, a good running partner to encourage you along the way is more important. It is also the same as our faith race where we have to recognise that running alone brings us no where and it is only when we run with our brothers that we will keep one another in check to allow us to complete the race.

Will I take part in next year's race? I really don't know. It took me a few days to recover properly as my knee was feeling inflamed and swollen. But it has all recovered and I am looking forward to enjoying my holidays and enriching myself in this short break from school term.

I had a few plans for this school holidays. Firstly, I would like to learn a little Japanese from my girlfriend, because she is very well versed in that language. The reason why I want to learn Jap is because of interest and also if I have to chance to go MOL Japan, then this new language will be put to great use. Next, I would like to improve on my guitar. Ever since school started, I have neglected my guitar quite a bit and I have not been improving the way I would want it to be. Lastly, I would also want to help out at the cyber wellness centre at TCT. It will give me a chance to interact with Ps YC and his team and also this would be a good learning experience for me.

New LOOk, New Commitment, New Name

Hello

This is a totally new tiger-roll as you all can see. No longer tiger-roll but hum-chim-peng, inspired by my girlfriend. Gone are the days where it is kindof stylish with the picture of a "complicated chord". Decided to make do without all those and stick to SIMPLICITY.

Well, the one and only one reason why I decided to revive this blog is because of my spiritual father Adrian, who encouraged us to have a blog to note down the little wishes and targets we have set for ourselves so that we will not forget, and hope that through these little wishes and targets, we are able to attract our own pool of audience who will be interested in how we actually meet these targets and fulfil the wishes.

Well, there will be more to come and lets stay tuned for more input from me and my other spiritual brothers who will also be setting up their blogs pretty soon. Till we meet again, cheers!
